First, find out how much diluted product you would like to end up with (i.e., Final Volume) and the product's dilution ratio for the cleaning application.
Next, follow the steps below:
- Determine the # of Parts in the dilution. To do this, add the two numbers in the dilution ratio together. For example, if the dilution ratio is 1:12, the # of Parts is 13 (i.e., 1+12=13).
- Next, plug in all the numbers into this formula: (Final Volume / # of Parts = Amount of Concentrate
- Fill the container with the Amount of Concentrate identified in Step 2, then fill the container the remainder of the way to the Final Volume with water. To find out specifically how much water you would need, simply subtract the Amount of Concentrate from the Final Volume.
Example:
Jane Appleseed would like to dilute Eco-Max Ultra Multi-Purpose Cleaner & Odour Neutralizer to make 710 ML of spray and wipe cleaning solution. The dilution rate is 1:12.
When we plug these numbers into the formula above, we end up with this:
710 ML / 13 = 54.6 ML
So, to make 710 ML of the spray and wipe cleaning solution, Jane would need to add 54.6 ML of Eco-Max Ultra Multi-Purpose Cleaner & Odour Neutralizer to her spray bottle and fill the bottle with 655.4 ML of water.
